Hopefully the Worst is Behind Us

Where did I leave off? The last couple days have been a blur. We spent a day off at a campsite near Parrsboro, to enjoy the tides and let our legs recover. Our campsite had a great view.

Everyone there was great! We were even gifted a paring knife when it became apparent my knives were no good for cutting onions. Our day off was cold, so we decided to go for a hike on the beach.

The next day we left for Amherst. We got there in good shape and grabbed some food and a couple drinks.

We decided it was getting a little cold, so we setup camp just outside of town. This was a cold night, dipped down to -1. The next day we got off to a decent start considering the haggard dirt road we took.  We crossed into New Brunswick at some point. We got just over 20km before our feet were blocks of ice, did I mention the wind and rain. So we decided to indulge in a motel for the night, as there was some risk of permanent damage. Crisis averted, after a couple of warm showers we managed to get some feeling back into our feet. So we ordered some pizza and slept in real beds.

The next day we set out for Shediac. We got to see some wildlife. A skunk, and later a doe and her fawn ran out in front of us. We also ran across the New Brunswick version of a pylon.

I didn’t think it was possible but we ended up on an even worse dirt road. Here is some of the conditions we faced, also there is a video on the videos page.

At last we made it to Shediac. We are about to grab dinner and some beers, before we find a place to camp for the night.

  1. These are great pictures!
As for the road conditions, I think you should blame the ‘map guy’ for the route he picked.

  2. Glad to see you guys made it out of Nova Scotia 🙂 hopefully the weather will start getting a bit nicer for you!
